Prep and aftercare

Prep, the room and aftercare

General guidance that your esthetician confirms at your visit. It may change for your skin or the service.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Before you come

Hair about a quarter inch long. Clean, dry skin with no lotion on the area, and no scrubs or exfoliating products for two days before.

  2. 02

    Step 2: In the room

Your esthetician says each step before she does it, tests the wax on her own wrist and pauses whenever you ask.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Right after

A cool compress or a soothing mask, and a few minutes to sit. Wear loose clothes home.

  4. 04

Step 4: The next two days

No hot baths, saunas, tanning or hard exercise. Sunscreen outside, and don't scrub or pick.

Details

Short notes that help

  • Hair length

About a quarter inch, or a grain of rice. Skip shaving for about two weeks first.

  • Skin products

Skip scrubs and exfoliating products on the area being waxed for two days ahead of a visit, and for two days following.

  • Heat and sun

No hot baths, saunas or tanning for two days. Put sunscreen on outside.

  • Clothes

Loose and soft, so nothing rubs the area for the rest of the day.

  • Exercise

Hold off on hard exercise and swimming for a day or two, until the area feels normal.

  • Hands off

Don't scrub, pick or scratch. If something feels wrong, call us and we'll talk it through.

Ask first

When to ask your doctor before you book

Tell your esthetician at the visit, so she can plan around it.

  • You are pregnant or might be

Ask your doctor before you book.

  • You use a prescription skin medicine

Ask your doctor before you book, and tell us which area it is on.

  • A doctor is managing a skin condition

Ask your doctor before you book.
